Huckleberry Preschool offers children aged 3-5 the opportunity to develop life skills through hands-on research and play. With a small cohort of six – ten children, a dedicated indoor and outdoor space at my home is utilized as a classroom providing a natural aesthetic with materials and manipulatives that inspire creativity and enhance cognitive skills. Just steps away, we enter the natural trails of Tiger Mountain. Beginning at East Sunset Way Trail Head, children will hike everyday stopping to explore and learn.
Through intentional teaching methods and support of children’s original thoughts, children develop social, emotional, language, math and science skills along with practice in fine and gross motor skills. This is all accomplished with the support of nature as our tool for learning. The natural elements help children build confidence and resilience. In opposition to rigorous academic drills and worksheets, children develop an intrinsic love for learning all while getting muddy! See Typical Daily Schedule
Wheel of Learning

Below, you can view the program in action. Children use sticks and berries to create patterns, practice scissor cutting with leaves and moss, form serration of rocks, paint with loose nature parts, build shapes and letters with sticks, balance on logs all while finding surprise treasures and animals that nature provides for us.
