Position:
Lead teacher facilitating nature-based education with 8 children aged 3-5 years old with assistance from co-teacher.

Compensation:
$20- 27/hour depending on experience and education

17 days paid vacation for school breaks and holidays

Weekly Hours:
Monday – Thursday, 7:45 am – 2:15 pm
26 Hours/week with additional hours for at home planning and occasional school events.

Responsibilities
- Operate an in home preschool both indoor and outdoor with a maximum of 8 children aged 3 – 5 years old as a co-teacher.
- Implement nature-based curriculum that encompasses the whole child. This includes, social, emotional, physical and academic skills through hands on learning
- Interact with children to encourage positive self-concept and enthusiasm for the discovery process
- Strong behavior management skills that keep children safe and teaches respect for others and the natural world
- Confidence and ability to safely hike with a group of 8 children
- Operate program within the guidelines and standards of Washington State Department of Children Youth and Families
- Develop relationships with parents, updating them on daily activities, addressing concerns and celebrating accomplishments
- Daily food preparation, clean up and facility upkeep
Qualifications
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education with experience in nature-based programs. Natural Science or other related degrees/experience considered with demonstrated early childhood experience
- Completed Child Care Basics 30 hour course (if bachelor’s degree has not been obtained)
- Portable Background Check and Fingerprints cleared through MERIT
- Current adult, child and pediatric CPR/First Aid & Blood Borne Pathogens Training
- Food Handlers Permit
- Safe Sleep Training
- Negative TB Test
- Washington state law requires all staff and volunteers to have a COVID-19 vaccination.
- Strength in creating lesson plans with emphasis on nature
- Experience in developmentally appropriate practices for social and emotional growth
- Takes initiative, demonstrates problem solving
- Works well as a individualist as well as a team member
- Enthusiasm for working in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift 30lbs, hike outdoors
